Book Week 2022 - Dreaming with Eyes Open

Welcome to Book Week 2022!

Finally! After two years of disturbances schools can celebrate Book Week together!

This week while casual relief teaching or supporting students you will see the Book Week parades in full swing, plenty of students dressed up as their favourite book characters and getting involved in Book Week related activities, which is always a joy to see!

It is also a time for public libraries and of course school libraries to celebrate books and Australian children’s authors and illustrators.

The Book Week theme for this year is Dreaming with eyes open! Below is the CBCA website to have a browse of the shortlisted books and the Book of the Year Award Winners for 2022.

Teacher Starter has plenty of Book Week Activities for this year. While most of them are paid activities it gives you an idea and inspiration of creating your own activities for Book Week! We have popped the website below for some lesson planning ideas.

If you have forgotten about Book Week and need a last-minute dress up costume for the kids, Big W has a range of children’s costumes to explore for Book Week.

Storyline Online has a wide range of stories read aloud by celebrities. This is a great way to either get students engaged with books. This link is great for brain breaks or while students are eating recess or lunch in the classroom. You may even find some previous CBCA Book winners on there. Below is the link to explore!

We hope everyone has a fantastic Book Week and get to read some of the CBCA Books on the shortlist.
